Reading, Lately

Reading, Lately

A couple of cookbooks (as always) and a book about the inspiring women who changed the way the world eats, drinks, and cooks but whose contributions to culinary history have largely been forgotten. Plus, Ruth Reichl’s memoir of her years as editor-in-chief of Gourmet, which came out the very same day as my cookbook. On top of the stack, Dante Alighieri’s Divina Commedia poem, split into three books (Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso). During my first trip to Naples, Italy, I spotted this set at a used bookstore and loved that it had come from a local school. I need to brush up on my Italian in anticipation of an upcoming trip, and what better way than Dante? Not pictured here: Michelle Obama’s Becoming. I loved it so much that I handed it off to my mother-in-law and insisted she read it—pronto.
