Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving week! It’s a weird one this year, if we’re lucky. I am trying to find some magic in the weirdness. In years past, I’ve shared recipes (savory and sweet), menus, and game plans for what is without a doubt my favorite holiday. I love the bustle of having everyone together cramped in a too small kitchen, the juggle of putting the giant turkey in the oven and then figuring out how to also roast the sweet potatoes. I love the general slowness of this meal, the way you always take a second helping of stuffing, even when you’re stuffed yourself, because we all know stuffing is the best side dish. I really love the pies. My family won’t have any of that this year, alas, but there’s still plenty to feel grateful for. We can be disappointed and joyful at the same time. Both can be true. And when we reach the moment in the future when it’s safe to gather again with dear friends indoors, elbow to elbow around a table that’s creaking under the weight of platters overflowing with food, I know we’ll remember this year and we’ll feel even more grateful for all that we have.
I hope you have a lovely holiday, whether you’re on your own, with just one other person, or with a little pod. xo
