Olive Oil Awards
This week, I’m excited to share a special guest post written by my husband, Graham. You might remember his previous guest post about the number one morning bun.
Hi there! It's me, Graham. A few weeks ago, I was asked to judge the 2020 California Olive Oil Council (COOC) Packaging Design Competition. I love olive oil, and I love packaging design, so of course I was into it. It turned out to be quite a fun (and demanding) afternoon. The team at COOC set up the bottles for each category and then we evaluated them based on a defined set of criteria. There were some excellent designs—I got to check out ceramic bottles, foil stamps, wood boxes, and many illustrations. Personally, I'm drawn to design that tells a good story. I like when I see something new and engaging each time I hold an object, and that's a lot of what I looked for throughout the afternoon. I also care about the type, of course. I really enjoy when my world overlaps with Maria's, and I can't wait to see which bottles won!
